I have been working with a PA since September last year and very much enjoy working together to make the most of my uni experience. My family is only an hour and a half away and occasionally visit, and also have me home during the holidays. Alongside Ask Jules they will very happily help to ensure you have all the knowledge and training to help us.
I feel incredibly grateful to still be alive, given my lifes journey so far, and have this opportunity to experience uni life, and try to lead a life as similar to my non-disabled peers as possible. I was born prematurely and growth restricted, weighing only the weight of a small bag of sugar, and really had far fewer challenges than you might expect from being born so early and small. Unfortunately, at age six I developed a very serious Strep A infection causing sepsis and multiple organ failure including a prolonged cardiac and respiratory arrest, which resulted in me being placed in a medically induced coma for two and half months. I stayed in hospital recovering and then a specialist brain injury rehab centre for a year where I started my road to recovery and tried to relearn all the skills I had lost.
