Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment (formerly Hutcheon Mearns) are supporting a successful and prominent organisation to recruit an Accountant to their growing team. Based at the Port of Nigg in the Scottish Highlands, this is an excellent role for someone looking for a hands on, month-end focussed role in a supportive organisation with excellent career opportunities.
This role can be full time or 4 days per week, with hybrid working (typically 3 days in the office).
The Opportunity
This is a great fit for a driven finance professional who enjoys getting stuck into month end, partnering with operations and improving the quality of reporting. You will join a friendly finance team of 6, with strong mentorship available and clear scope to develop your career over time.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year end reporting
* Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
* Prepare month end journal entries including accruals, prepayments and other trial balance movements
* Undertake detailed cost analysis in partnership with operational teams
* Maintain the fixed asset register
* Support the preparation of weekly cashflows
* Assist with the year end audit process
* Support the preparation of budgets and variance analysis
* Support continuous improvement across controls and finance processes
Background and Experience
The role would suit someone with relevant month end exposure looking to progress in a growing organisation or someone working in practice looking to make their first move to industry.
* Part-qualified, newly qualified (ICAS, ACCA, or CIMA) or qualified by experience
* Confident with Excel and comfortable across Microsoft Office (Outlook and PowerPoint included)
* Strong on detail, analytical by nature and able to problem solve
* Comfortable working to deadlines and communicating well across the business
* Variance analysis experience would be beneficial
