Compliance Assurance Officer

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Hybrid working with 1 day based in our Mercedes Benz Blackburn Dealership

Salary: Competitive Basic Salary

Benefits: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and pension scheme.

The role

We are seeking a Compliance Assurance Officer to join Marshall Motor Group. Offered on a full-time, permanent basis, this role reports to our Head of Compliance.

The successful candidate will support the Head of Compliance to deliver the Compliance Monitoring Plan, providing assurance to the Senior Leadership Team that systems and controls are robust and effective.

What you'll do

1. Supporting with the design of the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan
2. Delivery of the agreed Compliance Monitoring Plan
3. Develop and maintain good relationships with stakeholders across business
4. Keep up to date with various department processes
5. Maintain knowledge of new and evolving regulatory compliance requirements and good practice
6. Undertake monitoring activities as defined in the plan and support the team to deliver the planned activities
7. Develop and maintain the compliance monitoring methodology
8. Provide clear and accurate reports of findings to the Head of Compliance and key stakeholders
9. Promote a positive compliance culture in all interactions
10. Identify, report and monitor risk indicators to support the development of risk based monitoring
11. Present findings to key stakeholders, providing recommendations in line with industry best practice and regulatory expectations
12. Maintain positive stakeholder relationships across the business to identify risks and issues
13. Carry out ad-hoc duties as directed

Who you are

14. Experience of working in an FCA regulated financial services business
15. Proven ability to interpret regulatory requirements and communicate them effectively
16. Experience of working in a retail environment – preferably the motor trade
17. At least 2 years previous experience working in a Compliance Monitoring/Assurance role
18. Track record of supporting businesses in an FCA compliance function
19. Ability to understand and interpret regulatory rules and guidance
20. Knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements (particularly CONC and DISP) pertaining to the sale of consumer finance and/or general insurance
21. Knowledge of Consumer Duty and data protection/GDPR
22. IT literate with the ability to organise and analyse high volumes of data
23. Very organised with good time management skills
24. Excellent communication skills – precise and clear in written and verbal communication
25. Strong influencing and negotiation skills
26. Excellent attention to detail and accurate
27. Ability to produce high quality reports for different audiences
28. Ability to conduct root cause analysis, conduct trend analysis and offer solutions to identified problems
29. Self-motivated, persistent, diligent and enthusiastic
30. Ability to handle and prioritise own workload
31. Ability to promote a positive compliance culture
32. Strong organisational, analytical and methodical skills
