Asset Integrity Engineer – MAPLE Microdevelopment
We’re looking for an experienced Asset Integrity Engineer to join our Asset Integrity Division. The role supports a diverse range of engineering technical services, delivering projects on time and to budget.
Job Purpose
A member of the Asset Integrity Division responsible for delivering technical services, including vibration assessment, asset monitoring and solution implementation across structural and process piping assets.
Key Areas of Expertise
* Structural vibration assessment and problem solving
* Asset integrity monitoring including system design and configuration
* Process pipework vibration assessment / problem solving (in accordance with Energy Institute guidelines)
* Design and implementation of Pipework Vibration Solutions
Working within a team of typically 6–8 engineers, projects may involve travel, including international onshore and offshore sites, with periods away from home up to 1–2 weeks.
Principal Accountabilities
* Visit client sites to perform high‑level consultancy support and technical services
* Conduct structural vibration assessment and problem solving
* Process piping vibration assessment and problem solving (Energy Institute guidelines)
* Design, implement and configure AVT Pipework Vibration solutions
* Asset integrity monitoring systems
* Liaise with customers to determine project requirements
* Prepare technical/commercial proposals
* Job preparation: establish deliverables, prepare Method Statement, Risk Assessment and Job Specification
* Plan work, procure equipment and arrange travel/accommodation
* Use CAD, FEA or other specialist software for assessment
* Specify, design and configure structural monitoring systems
* Project management and support colleague projects as required
* Data analysis, technical report writing and recommendations
* Ensure HSE and Quality Standards compliance
* Ensure adherence to AVT Reliability HSE and Quality Policies and Procedures
Essential Skills & Knowledge
* Excellent understanding of vibration and dynamic behaviour of structures and machines
* Excellent understanding of structural vibration, measurement, assessment and problem solving
* Good understanding of metal fatigue failure mechanisms
* Experience with configuration, installation and use of instrumentation and data logging systems (strain, vibration, displacement, pressure, temperature, etc.)
* Knowledge of Modal Testing and Operating Deflection Shape (ODS) assessment techniques
* Experienced in data analysis, signal processing and data interpretation
* Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks) for structural engineering design
* Proficiency in FEA (ANSYS) for Static, Modal and Harmonic studies
* Technical reporting skills
* Excellent written and organisational abilities
* Practical knowledge of designing structural components and assemblies
Desirable Skills & Knowledge
* Experience performing ODS Assessments and Modal Testing
* Process piping vibration assessment and problem solving (Energy Institute guidelines)
* Installation and configuration of strain gauges
* Usage of HBM Glyphworks and MEScope software
* Motion amplification techniques
* Knowledge of online monitoring systems
* Experience in programming data logging and HMI‑PLC systems
* Basic awareness of Machinery vibration monitoring (CBM)
Essential Qualifications / Education
* Degree in a relevant engineering subject with broad mechanical engineering experience and supplementary practical skills
* Pass offshore medical and offshore survival course
* Full driving licence
Desirable Qualifications
* Knowledge of electrical engineering
* BSSM Level 1 or 2 certified
* Offshore medical & survival trained
Essential Experience
* 3–5+ years of commercial engineering consulting services to industry
* Capable of writing technical proposals and quotations
* Experience of hands‑on site work
* Broad mechanical engineering experience
* Practical mechanical engineering experience and good understanding of mechanical engineering
* Experience using modern instrumentation and measurement techniques for structural or machinery monitoring applications; structural design, development and testing
Desirable Experience
* Nuclear industry experience
* Chemical industry experience
* Oil & Gas industry experience
* Offshore work experience
