Join Our Team: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in English to join our Motor Vehicle & Welding team. You will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons for a diverse range of learners, guiding students through classic literature to modern language skills, providing support, challenge, and inspiration. You will design creative lessons, give practical feedback, and help learners see how English connects to the world around them, contributing to a vibrant and collaborative academic environment.
What You Will Be Doing
* Plan, deliver, and manage high-quality, inclusive teaching, learning, and assessment in English.
* Support students’ academic progress and personal development, helping them reach their full potential.
* Design and implement engaging lesson plans that link classroom learning to real-world contexts.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the learner experience and respond to diverse student needs.
* Contribute to student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression by providing personalised guidance and support.
What We’re Looking For
* Are qualified teachers or willing to work towards it.
* Hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
* Have GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.
* Possess up-to-date knowledge and experience in teaching English.
* Have experience of teaching GCSE English in either a school or further education setting and delivering exam-based qualifications (desirable).
* Have experience of providing pastoral support—for example, acting as a personal tutor or supporting learner wellbeing (desirable).

* The Lecturer Salary Scale is from Pt 5 – Pt 16. The salary progression criteria beyond point 11 of the Lecturer scale will be based on achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or QTS. To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS). (subject to meeting enrolment criteria for the teaching qualification – see Job description for further details).
