Agency Social & Healthcare Non-Qualified Brokerage Officer – Adult Social Care Commissioning Grade: SO2 - Agency rate: £24 per hour to £28 per hour (DOE) Location: East London Contract: Full-Time / Tempoary contract until 31/03/2026 / poss extension Service Area: Commissioning & Brokerage Reports To: Senior Brokerage Manager Are you an experienced Brokerage Officer or care-sector professional looking for your next challenge? We are recruiting for a dynamic and organised individual to join a busy Adult Social Care Commissioning Team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring vulnerable adults receive the right care, at the right time, delivered by high-quality, value-for-money providers. About the Role As a Brokerage Officer, you will work alongside Service Managers, Care Managers, Senior Practitioners and partner teams to source, arrange, amend and monitor packages of care, residential/nursing placements, and supported living services. You will broker services efficiently, resolve complex placement issues, and ensure all activity complies with internal policies, governance requirements and statutory obligations. You will contribute to market management, maintain accurate system records, support financial forecasting, and negotiate effectively with providers to secure best value outcomes for service users. Key Responsibilities * Source, negotiate and arrange placements for older people, learning disabilities, mental health and other adult services. * Update and maintain social care systems, ensuring robust and accurate data. * Work collaboratively with care management, hospital discharge, finance and assessment teams. * Support commissioning activity, identify service gaps and maintain market intelligence. * Ensure timely supplier setup, contracting and amendments. * Broker services for individuals with no recourse to public funds when required. * Promote person-centred, outcome-focused support that encourages independence. * Maintain high standards of customer service, confidentiality and professional conduct. What We’re Looking For * Experience in a health or social care environment. * Strong background in service brokerage, placement finding or commissioning. * Excellent negotiation, influencing and communication skills. * Ability to manage a busy workload, work independently and meet deadlines. * Confident using social care IT systems, databases, spreadsheets and reporting tools. * Knowledge of relevant legislation, commissioning principles, data protection and best value practices. * Ability to build strong relationships with internal teams, providers and external partners. * Professionalism, resilience and the ability to work sensitively with complex cases. Ideal Background * Experience using financial or procurement systems. * Experience resolving complaints and supporting service improvements. * Knowledge of adult social care legislation, community care charging and commissioning frameworks.
