About the Role
AJ&U Recruitment are looking for a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist to join our clients growing toolmaking team in Leicester. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating CNC machines to produce high-quality components to exact specifications. This role involves interpreting 3D models and technical drawings, setting up and programming machines, and ensuring consistent production standards in a small family business.

Key Responsibilities as a CNC Machinist
* Set up and operate CNC milling, turning, or grinding machines
* Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models
* Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and machine parameters for each job
* Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to ensure accuracy and efficiency
* Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
* Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as needed
* Maintain accurate production records and quality documentation
* Collaborate with engineers and quality control teams to resolve manufacturing challenges
* Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
Requirements for the CNC Machinist
* Proven experience as a CNC Machinist in a manufacturing or engineering environment
* Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machines, ideally Hurco’s
* Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tolerances
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specification
* Familiarity with G-code and CAM software (e.g., NCG)
* Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Enthusiastic and willingness to embrace change and innovation
* Experience working on Hurco’s an advantage, but training can be arranged.
* Experience with Visi CAD also an advantage but not essential
