Based at our Milton Keynes campus, you’ll be right at the centre of our operations—gaining hands-on experience and contributing directly to the development of our Power Unit. You’ll work alongside some of the industry’s best engineers and experience first-hand what it’s like to be part of a championship-winning Formula 1 team.
Responsibilities
Throughout your placement, you’ll contribute to every stage of the engineering process, from conceptual design and manufacturing reviews to live testing in our in-house dyno facilities. You’ll apply engineering design principles using CAD and rapid manufacturing techniques to develop real Power Unit components, while also analysing and interpreting data to produce technical documentation and present insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Working closely with expert teams across the business, you’ll help deliver world-class engineering solutions, gain unique exposure to the 2026 Formula 1 season and play a part in shaping the future of Red Bull Powertrains.
Expected knowledge, experience & attributes
* Knowledge and experience from at least one year of undergraduate study on either an engineering, mathematics or physics degree course
* A solid understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply mathematical methods to solve real-world problems
* Knowledge of Python, R, MATLAB, Simulink for system development and modelling
* Experience in programming in C or C++(preferred)
* Familiarity with engineering software such as CAD, FEA, CFD, or system modelling (training will be provided)
* Experience with handling and analysing data from simulations or physical tests, and confidence in preparing high-quality technical documentation
* Positive, can-do, attitude and willingness to learn new skills
* Ability to follow best practice and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
* Excellent communication skills and experience working in a team environment
* Ability to break complex technical problems down to fundamental principles and understand the contributing physics
* Ability to demonstrate a genuine passion for engineering through involvement in extra-curricular projects, previous placements, or work experience
