Cover Supervisor – South Tyneside
Milk Education is seeking confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in the South Tyneside area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils aged 11–16, supervise pre-planned lessons, and help maintain a calm, positive learning environment where every student feels motivated to succeed.
You will play a key role in ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of the class teacher, working closely with school leadership and teaching staff.
Location
South Tyneside
Hours
8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
(Flexible supply work available)
Pay
£100 – £130 per day (dependent on experience)
Essential Qualifications & Experience
1. Experience working with young people aged 11–16 in a school, youth work, or similar setting
2. Minimum Grade C / Level 4 or above in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
3. Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant
4. Strong classroom management and communication skills
5. Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
6. A proactive, professional attitude with a commitment to inclusive education
7. Ability to provide two recent references
Key Responsibilities
8. Supervise classes in the absence of the teacher using pre-set work
9. Maintain a positive, structured, and safe learning environment
10. Support pupils in completing tasks and staying engaged
11. Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
12. Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and behaviour
13. Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
