The Peer Representative placement offers a ‘hands-on’ experience working with young people through OTR’s existing projects and developing your own initiatives. Responsibilities may include working face-to-face with young people (e.g., at our drop-in Hubs in Bristol and Yate), staffing the enquiry line, answering emails, liaising with parents and professionals, co-facilitating groups, and developing new projects and website resources.
In North Somerset, this role could involve working directly with young people at the Portishead Hub, co-facilitating online and face-to-face groups in schools and community settings, developing resources, and promoting OTR at community events during summer.
Peer Representatives can influence service development, build on their strengths, and lead initiatives to create positive change for young people at both individual and structural levels.

About OTR:
OTR is a mental health social movement run by and for young people. As we celebrate 59 years, we are reaching more young people than ever (around 20,000) across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset with diverse mental health and wellbeing support.
Our approach is based on values of diversity, empowerment, and collaboration, focusing on strengths, interests, and circumstances unique to each young person. We aim to build relationships within individuals, peers, and communities.
A Willingness to Work with Difference
All staff and volunteers are expected to work in an anti-oppressive and inclusive manner. We are committed to ongoing learning and improvement in these areas and invite you to join us on this journey.
OTR values diversity and strives to create an environment that respects and promotes it. We recognize that addressing systemic inequality, prejudice, racism, and oppression requires active engagement, self-examination, and change to ensure equitable access and experiences for all.
