This is an exciting opportunity to work for a well-established campervan conversion company on the outskirts of Bristol, building interior cabinetry for vehicles. This role would suit an experienced CNC operator looking to gain experience with vehicle fit outs.
This role will be a hybrid of computer-based office work and hands-on physical work. Day to day jobs will involve using a CNC router to cut plywood panels and cabinetry for vehicles, Surveying vehicles using 3D scanning and CAD modelling of new prototype units for testing and rendering purposes. You will also be required to create bills of materials and assist with estimates for bespoke projects.
Alongside the camper business, Apple County Customs also develops bespoke systems for overlanding trucks such as the Discovery models, Defenders, pickups and other vehicles. You will be expected to be able to create bespoke models for these vehicles and technical drawings. Required skills include:
· Experience with 2D and 3D CAD modelling software,
· Experience with manual and electric tools, including rail saws, routers, jig saws, etc.,
· Experience with simple joinery/woodworking,
· Experience operating a CNC router,
· Ability to confidently talk to customers about their requirements,
· Ability to create 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings, for clients looking for bespoke builds,
· Ability to self-manage and communicate with workshop staff to meet deadlines and ensure a quality product,
· Good Problem-solving skills and attention to detail; sometimes adjustments may be required and you will be expected to spot this and correct as required,
· Keen eye to detail,
· Self-motivated and a willingness to show initiative,
· You will be expected to keep your working space clean and tidy, for health and safety reasons,
· Ability to select the correct CNC tooling.
Desirable skills:
· Experience building cabinetry,
· Knowledge of sheet material standards,
· Experience using Vectric Vcarve, Fusion 360 and blender,
· Experience with 3D scanning,
· Experience using a 3D printer.

The hours of work are 9 am – 5 pm Monday to Friday. We are closed on weekends. Overtime is likely to be offered during the summer months (our busy period).
Ideally, the successful candidate would be able to start as soon as possible, but we understand this may not be possible. We currently have no one in this role so starting within the next few days would be ideal.
