They work with pupils from diverse backgrounds and place a strong emphasis on individualised support, clear routines and consistent relationships. About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils who may experience emotional, behavioural or mental health barriers to learning. This role offers a valuable opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by supporting both their academic engagement and emotional wellbeing.
Responsibilities:
* Support students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
* Implement behaviour and emotional regulation support strategies.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support engagement.
* Assist with lesson delivery and adapt learning materials to meet individual needs.
* Manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation and positive behaviour techniques.
* Work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure consistent support.
* Monitor, record and report on pupil progress and behaviour where required.
Qualifications:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
* A strong understanding of behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to remain calm, patient and consistent in challenging situations.
* A positive and proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
