This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, dynamic Consultant to join our organisation to work in a substantive position as a Consultant Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatrist. This post is one of two Consultant Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry posts for Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will provide clinical leadership for the Hope Unit – Adolescent in-patient service with a focus on assessment and short stay treatments, utilising an acute care pathway (6‑8 week admissions). As clinical lead we will oversee the regional multidisciplinary team and deliver emergency, urgent and elective assessment and treatment for adolescent inpatients with complex or enduring mental health problems. We provide specialist consultation and advice to referring mental health teams (CAMHS and Working Age Adult MH Services), Local Authorities and CCGs across the Trust footprint and the North West, regarding young people with complex mental health care needs. The successful candidate will take clinical responsibility for all 12 young people currently inpatient on the unit and manage a caseload of clients receiving high‑intensity input. We will adhere to all relevant policies and procedures, maintain appropriate clinical records, confidentiality and administrative duties. Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members is essential, including leading the management of referrals, admission and discharge planning, CPA reviews and hand‑over to Borough MH teams, Local Authorities and commissioners. The role utilises the Care Programme Approach and, where required, The New Mental Health Act, The Children Act and The Mental Capacity Act. We work in partnership with other professionals and agencies involved in the care of young people across departmental and organisational boundaries. The service operates across five boroughs of Greater Manchester – Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside and Glossop. All individuals regardless of race, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, religion or belief, marriage and civil partnership are encouraged to apply. We also welcome applications from individuals with lived experience of mental illness, either individually or as a carer.
