About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Looked After Children (LAC) Social Worker to join our supportive and forward-thinking Children’s Services team in the West Midlands. You will play a key role in improving outcomes for children and young people in care, ensuring they receive the highest standard of support, stability, and safeguarding.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will build meaningful relationships with children and families, promote their emotional wellbeing, and support permanency planning through fostering, adoption, and long-term care pathways.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of looked-after children in accordance with statutory guidance and local procedures
Undertake regular visits, assessments, and reviews to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and progress of children in care
Develop and implement care plans that promote stability, identity, and positive outcomes
Work closely with foster carers, residential settings, schools, health professionals, and wider support networks
Prepare high-quality reports and present evidence in court when required
Advocate for the rights and aspirations of children and young people
Engage in reflective supervision and contribute to continuous service improvement
About You
You will be a committed social work practitioner with a strong understanding of trauma-informed and relationship-based practice. You should have:
✅ Qualified and registered Social Worker status (Social Work England)
✅ Experience working with looked-after children, safeguarding, or statutory social work
✅ Strong assessment, planning, and case management skills
✅ Excellent partnership working and communication skills
✅ Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries
✅ A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable)
