Contract Works Officer - Aids and Adaptations Team

Grade C- £35,412 - £41,771

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

Permanent position.

Birmingham City Council has an opportunity for a skilled and motivated Contract Works Officer working as part of the Aids and Adaptations Team.


Responsibilities

* Deliver aids and adaptations to a diverse community, ensuring varied needs are met.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with all customers, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Understand and interpret the Priority Needs Assessments from the Occupational Therapy team and deliver the required works to meet the recommended adaptations.
* Review adaptation programmes, assess costs, agree variations to works, produce clear, concise reports and collate all required information from O and M manuals through to agreed costs.
* Work closely with repair partners to ensure quality and customer‑based care.
* Inspect and diagnose building defects in low‑ and high‑rise tower blocks, order remedial works and manage delivery by nominated contractors.
* Deliver Planned Works from inception to completion and within budget.


Qualifications and Experience

* Knowledge of residential maintenance and a desirable qualification in Gas or Electric to a minimum of HNC or BTEC Building or relevant industry experience.
* Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
* Experience inspecting and diagnosing building defects in low and high rise tower blocks.
* Experience delivering Planned Works from inception to completion and within budget.
* Proficient in reviewing adaptation programmes, costs, variations and reporting.


Requirements

* The role is hybrid with a base office; attendance at various locations across the city is required.
