About the role:
To be the Council’s first point of contact for business support and development of Town Centre initiatives
To proactively identify, develop and deliver initiatives and activities that support the local economy and business growth.
Work with Town Centres and wider areas to develop plans for regeneration across the County
You will ensure programme outcomes align to Sustainable Powys principles covering the five core areas for service delivery.
About you:
Proven track record in delivering business support and engagement initiatives, demonstrating measurable outcomes that contribute to economic growth and sustainability.
Comprehensive project management expertise, including planning, execution, risk management, and evaluation of complex projects within tight deadlines.
Experience collaborating with the private sector to drive economic development, fostering partnerships that enhance business resilience and competitiveness.
Strong financial management and monitoring capabilities, ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with funding requirements.
Ability to build and maintain effective networks and strategic relationships with stakeholders, promoting collaboration and shared objectives across diverse sectors.
What you will do:
Design and implement initiatives that strengthen Powys businesses and promote sustainable economic growth within Town Centre developments. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop strategic initiatives and prepare comprehensive five-point business cases to secure funding through the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns Programme and other relevant schemes.
Foster strong relationships with key businesses and sectors across Powys, ensuring effective communication and engagement.
Coordinate and respond to business enquiries, providing accurate information, guidance, and signposting to appropriate support services. Maintain detailed records of enquiries and monitor performance indicators. Prepare and present reports for Cabinet, internal committees, and external agencies, providing updates on business development activities and performance as required by the Place Planning Lead.
Lead proactive communication efforts, ensuring timely publicity and updates on business development activities through multiple channels, including websites and social media, to engage Town Centre businesses and Town and Community Councils.
