In your role as a Kitchen Assistant at HC-One, you'll value one thing above all: kindness. It carries across every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Every person working here understands that our Residents are individuals with their own stories. Joining HC-One offers a wonderful opportunity to give back to these individuals.
As a Kitchen Assistant, your responsibilities will include helping to prepare and serve nutritious, healthy meals that residents will enjoy. You'll uphold high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. Whether maintaining food supplies, managing fridge/freezer temperatures, training new staff on equipment, or cleaning spills, you'll always prioritize Resident wellbeing.
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant with some kitchen experience. Ideally, you will have an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or be willing to study for one. Strong record-keeping and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to follow recipes. You should communicate considerately and kindly with Residents and colleagues.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of potential abuse, harm, or neglect and know how to respond. All staff are required to attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and undertake additional related training. You should also be able to seek advice and report concerns appropriately, escalating issues if necessary.
We will provide full training, offering a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you will enjoy a variety of benefits supporting your physical and psychological wellbeing, including:
* Hourly rate subject to experience and qualifications.
* Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
* Free uniform
* A nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
* Company pension scheme
* 28 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
* Group life assurance cover
* Wagestream - flexible access to pay
* Award-winning training and development opportunities
* GP online service for 24/7 GP consultations
* Learning from experienced colleagues in a supportive team
* Colleague discounts at over 1600 high street stores
* Free access to Employee Assistance Programme for physical, mental, and financial support
* Recognition schemes such as 'Kindness in Care' and Long Service Awards
* Refer a Friend scheme offering up to £1000 per successful referral
We are committed to inclusivity and ensuring our workforce reflects the communities we serve. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and aim for a quick onboarding process from offer to start date.
