We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Transport Manager to join our Area 7. This role is based on-site at Newark Depot (NG242TQ)
Amey is responsible for maintaining and managing highway infrastructure in Area 7, ensuring roads are safe, efficient, and well-kept for public use. As the Transport Manager, you will oversee fleet operations at the Newark Depot, ensuring vehicles are compliant, efficiently utilised, and maintained to high standards while supporting operational audits and training.
The standard hours of work are 40 hours, Monday - Friday.
What you'll do:
Lead and assist with operational audits and inspections, both internally and externally.
Oversee vehicle allocation and key management.
Support the development and implementation of the Vehicle Husbandry Plan (VHP).
Organise toolbox talks and training on Fleet Management and legislative updates.
Consistently uphold and protect the Amey brand.
Efficiently manage fuel usage.
Ensure operating centres comply with Operator Licence requirements and Amey policies.
Maintain compliance with UK/EU laws and Amey procedures for all vehicle operations.
Meet annual vehicle testing and understand OCRS measurement outputs.
Ensure proper document recording and safe storage.
Fit all vehicles with required safety equipment and markings.
Verify drivers hold valid licences and Driver CPC qualifications, with checks at least every six months.
Ensure DCPC training is completed as required.
Oversee vehicle and trailer maintenance and timely defect resolution, recording all incidents.
Monitor correct completion of driver's daily checks, logs, and defect reporting; declare Vehicle off Road (VoR) when needed.
Enforce legislation for safe loading, transportation, and identification of dangerous goods.
Plan and monitor statutory events and checks, ensuring compliance with LOLER and PUWER regulations.
Monitor and enforce driver's hours in accordance with EU or Domestic regulations.
Ensure vehicles display all required licencing and plating certifications.
Assist with vehicular accident management and resolution.
Implement vehicle-related Health, Safety, and Environmental policies; promote best practice.
Support resolution of traffic offences, investigations, and driver training.
Identify and report risks, issues, and opportunities to senior management.
Monitor and report performance and safety targets.

Hold a full, clean UK Class 1 driving licence.
Membership of a relevant professional trade body, such as IRTE or IMI Skills.
Demonstrate strong organisational abilities, including paperwork, administration and numeracy skills.
