Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Salary: £45,000 – £60,000. Location: Birmingham, UK (Hybrid working available).
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a respected and forward‑thinking building services consultancy. About the Role
* Lead the mechanical design aspects of building services projects from concept through to completion.
* Design HVAC systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling.
* Produce detailed mechanical specifications and drawings.
* Carry out thermal modelling, load calculations, and equipment selection.
* Oversee mechanical design compliance with industry standards and regulations.
* Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
* Contribute to sustainable design strategies and low‑energy solutions.
* Manage and mentor junior engineers as part of project delivery.
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy or similar environment.
* Solid understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles.
* Experience with industry‑standard software such as IES, Hevacomp, or Revit.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.
* Ability to manage projects and deliver high‑quality design solutions to deadlines.
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Working toward or holding professional registration (IEng/CEng) would be advantageous.
