The Role
We’re looking for a Production Assistant Manager to support our Howden site. This is a development opportunity, offering a clear pathway to Production Manager level.
You’ll play a key role in coordinating day-to-day production activities, leading teams across production and packing areas, and ensuring operations run efficiently to meet business targets.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Planning
* Plan and organise shift patterns to meet production demands
* Coordinate daily workloads across production, packing, and teams
* Monitor materials, stock levels, and production flow to keep operations running smoothly
* Manage agency staffing requirements within budget
Leadership & Team Development
* Lead and develop the production teams
* Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management
* Drive a “One Team, One Goal” culture across the site
* Support succession planning and team capability development
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Promote a strong safety-first culture across all activities
* Ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work and site procedures
* Support audits, risk assessments, and continuous safety improvements
* Take responsibility for safe operations during out-of-hours working
Quality & Continuous Improvement
* Ensure adherence to quality standards and production processes
* Monitor KPIs and production data to drive performance improvements
* Support continuous improvement and change initiatives across the site
About You
Experience & Skills
* Previous experience managing or leading teams within a production or manufacturing environment
* Strong organisational and planning skills in fast-paced settings
* Confident communicator, able to engage at all levels
* Experience driving performance, continuous improvement, and change
* Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships
Mindset & Approach
* Safety-first mindset with knowledge of H&S practices
* Hands‑on leadership style with a proactive, solutions‑focused approach
