Overview
Senior Recruitment Officer (South Wales) role within the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Bangor University. This post will work across the area of UK Marketing and recruitment and is integral to University aims to increase student recruitment from Wales. It will report directly to the Interim Head of UK Recruitment, Admissions and Portfolio.
We require a full time, permanent Senior Recruitment Officer (South Wales) to support our Marketing & Recruitment division. The postholder will be responsible for developing and delivering recruitment plans targeting specific geographic areas, primarily within South Wales, and for supporting the delivery of the University’s ambitions to grow undergraduate student numbers. The role combines office-based and face-to-face recruitment and student engagement activities.
The successful candidate will have a Degree or equivalent with experience of student recruitment in Higher Education. The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential. This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check. Depending on discussion, the post can be based in South Wales or on the Bangor Campus, with potential for some remote work within the UK under our Dynamic Working framework. Main duties and responsibilities
* Contribute to the development of a regional recruitment plan for South Wales with the support of the Interim Head of UK Recruitment, Admissions and Portfolio.
* Identify and build relationships with key feeder schools and colleges and deliver a programme of creative and innovative engagement.
* Utilise data to identify and target top feeder schools across Wales, according to counties and subject areas.
* Develop engaging sessions for delivery face to face or online, promoting the University and offering practical value to schools and students.
* Provide specialist advice to students, parents and advisors.
* Attend higher education fairs (within South Wales and further afield).
* Collaborate with regional partners such as Careers Wales, Seren Network and Reaching Wider to develop school engagement activities.
* Develop and expand events and activities for schools and colleges (on-campus and off-site, e.g., HE Conferences at FE campuses).
* Ensure Welsh-medium provision and opportunities are embedded in activities in Wales.
* Work with College Marketing Teams and Alumni Relations to identify staff, current students and regional alumni who can support regional recruitment.
* Capture enquirer data and evaluate engagements.
* Provide regular reports on engagement and impact and assess effectiveness.
* Identify and develop other regional promotional opportunities.
* Network across the HE sector to respond to competitor activity.
* Support the Clearing process as part of the wider recruitment team.
* Provide cross-section support on events and activities related to UK recruitment and widening participation, including attending open and offer holder days, widening access events, UCAS fairs and delivering presentations; may involve evenings and weekends away from home.
* Undertake such other duties commensurate with the grading as assigned by the Interim Head of UK Recruitment, Admissions and Portfolio.

Qualifications/Training
* Essential: Degree or equivalent or significant relevant experience.
* Desirable: Evidence of continuing professional development.

* Essential: Experience of student recruitment in Higher Education.
* Experience of working in a customer service environment.
* Considerable experience of organising and delivering customer-facing activities.
* Experience of working with schools or colleges.
* Experience of developing plans and delivering them effectively.
* Experience of setting and delivering targets.
* Experience of reporting on impact.
* An understanding of current issues surrounding UK undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment with particular reference to Wales.
* Desirable: Previous experience of working in higher education; Experience and knowledge of the UCAS admissions process; Experience of organising student recruitment events; Previous experience of developing relationships with external partners, preferably in the FE sector.
