Job Purpose: As a Residential Support Worker, you will be the guiding light, the pillar of strength, and the compassionate listener that these young souls need to thrive and overcome their adversities. Your role involves forming deep and meaningful connections with the children, catering to their unique needs with genuine care and understanding, and creating an environment where they can feel seen, heard, and valued. Key Responsibilities: Be involved in the direct delivery of services to young people, in line with their care plans. Provide a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment, ensuring children feel secure and free from harm. Establish positive relationships with young people, offering them unconditional and positive regard. Help young people gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behavior and rewarding acceptable conduct. Follow and amend each young persons care plan to reflect their changing needs. Attend to practical matters in childcare, such as cooking, cleaning, and general maintenance. Act as a key worker or co-worker for a young person, ensuring their care needs are met and offering advice, guidance, and assistance. Provide emotional support and assist young people in their education and extracurricular activities. Keep accurate records and provide written reports on young people for various meetings. Empower young people and facilitate their active involvement in decision-making about their lives. Act as an advocate at meetings and encourage young people to develop community links and expand their social network. Maintain a nurturing, therapeutic environment, supporting the child or young persons progress in various aspects, including household tasks and independent living skills. Adhere to statutory and Brinscall care policies and procedures. Terms and conditions All positions are subject to an initial probationary period of six months Successful completion of the probationary period is subject to continuous, satisfactory performance and attendance at any training required. Annual leave entitlement for permanent staff is 224 hours hours per year. Your hours of work are those required to carry out your duties to the satisfaction of the company, and as necessitated by the needs of the business. This will include a rota pattern that includes weekends, evenings, sleep ins and bank holiday workings. Your rota is subject to change at short notice to ensure the needs of the business are met Additional notes The above is not meant to be an exhaustive list but a summary of the important elements of the role. This post is subject to a satisfactory references and enhanced DBS checks. The post holder also is required to work weekends as part of a rota and Bank Holidays when required. Sleeping-in duties are also required for which an additional payment is made. On occasions you may be requested to change your rota at a given notice as per your contract, to ensure the contingencies of the service are covered. This may also include covering an additional sleep-in duty as an emergency measure. In accordance with the guidelines on Health and Safety, to accept responsibility for working within these guidelines and reporting any concerns to the Registered Manager. To undertake such other duties appropriate to the grade of the post and the needs of the Home such decorating, gardening in order to develop and maintain service delivery.
