Overview
Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is currently looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Registered Nurse to join our dedicated Stroke Unit.
Our Stroke Unit is a 35-bedded, multi-disciplinary team (MDT) environment that provides the highest standard of care to patients who have experienced a stroke. The unit consists of 6 hyper-acute level 2 acuity beds and 29 recovery beds. We admit patients directly from the emergency department and provide thrombolysis treatment. In addition, we arrange mechanical thrombectomy procedures when necessary. After acute care, patients receive ongoing rehabilitation in the ward and where appropriate will receive care in the community through our Early Supported Discharge team.
Responsibilities
* Provide excellent, patient-centered care to stroke patients including administering medications, managing treatments and providing emotional support to patients and families.
* Contribute to and collaborate with the MDT to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.
* Monitor and assess patients\' conditions, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained.
* Deliver rehabilitation and supportive care to stroke patients both on the ward and as part of the Early Supported Discharge team.
* Participate in the ongoing development of the Stroke Unit, maintaining high standards.
About us
We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically-led organisation.
We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as ‘outstanding’ for care and our King’s Mill Hospital as the only ‘outstanding’ NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.
