With a growing portfolio of work, we are seeking an experienced professional to join BDP’s North Region sustainability team. With Studios in Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham and Liverpool, the role will be pivotal in raising BDP’s profile as a leader in sustainability and will provide support to the Head of Sustainability in developing new opportunities locally and globally. It is anticipated that this role will be delivered primarily out of the Manchester Studio.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Head of Sustainability in developing, expanding and delivering BDP’s sustainability offering in the North, with a focus on net zero carbon, circular economy, embodied carbon and decarbonisation strategies
* Deliver external presentations for business development and to raise the profile of the practice
* Project leadership and mentorship of junior team members
* Support the delivery of high-quality design focused outputs across a range of sectors, fostering connection between disciplines
* Produce technical guidance and analysis to influence sustainability strategies (including leading workshops to help clients define their strategic sustainability brief)
* Deliver, report and evaluate on project sustainability targets
* Speak at industry events championing BDP as a sustainable practice
* Represent BDP on industry working groups and positively engage with industry institutes to promote and share knowledge
* Assist in bid writing and attending project interviews
* Assist in project forecasting and budget management
* Identify research and development opportunities to enable BDP to stay at the forefront of the sustainability agenda, engaging with BDP lab where relevant
The role will report directly to the Head of Sustainability and support them in the following additional activities:
* Development and implementation of BDPs sustainability policies and strategy
* ESG reporting, including performance against Science Based Targets
* Managing and maintaining our ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certification
* Development of communications plan for the practice, producing up to date marketing material on our sustainability activities and coordinating internal and external messaging to ensure the sustainability agenda is communicated effectively
About you:
* Relevant experience working in the field of sustainability, with specific experience of sustainability design consultancy
* The ability to take responsibility in leading and delivering projects, coordinating and managing input from more junior members of the team
* Demonstrable evidence of developing sustainable design strategies in a built environment context
* Experience in financial management, including forecasting and resourcing
* Experience in work winning and business development
* The drive to build capacity and expertise within the team and wider practice
* Confidence in preparing and delivering presentations to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
* Chartership with a relevant industry body
* Exemplary written and spoken English, with experience of technical report writing
