Overview
An opportunity has arisen to become part of the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust Medical Examiner Service as a Medical Examiner Officer (MEO).
The Medical Examiner Service was recently established across England and Wales to improve the quality of death certification and provide an independent layer of scrutiny when somebody passes away.
Responsibilities
* Work across both Queen’s Hospital and King George Hospital on a rostered basis.
* Support Medical Examiners in scrutinising the circumstances and causes of death in accordance with current legislation.
* Serve as a point of contact and source of advice for relatives of deceased patients, healthcare professionals, registration services, and the coroner’s office.
* Collaborate with other MEOs to ensure timely scrutiny of deaths that occur at acute hospitals or in the community.
Qualifications
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate sensitively with bereaved families.
