Overview

There has never been a more exciting time to join Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH). We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Chief Finance Officer at a pivotal moment, as we shape and deliver our strategy to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.

GOSH is an internationally renowned centre of excellence in the care of Children and Young People with highly complex and rare conditions. Employing around 6,000 staff, we deliver the UK's widest range of children's paediatric specialties from our central London site.

As Deputy CFO, you will lead several core functions within the Finance Directorate, including NHS Contracting, Income and Costing; Financial Reporting, Treasury, and Financial IT Systems; and Financial Management across Clinical and Corporate Directorates, Research, and the new Cancer Centre programme.


Responsibilities

* Lead NHS Contracting, Income and Costing; Financial Reporting, Treasury, and Financial IT Systems; and Financial Management across Clinical and Corporate Directorates, Research, and the Cancer Centre programme.
* Work closely with the Chief Finance Officer and collaborate regularly with the Executive Team, senior leaders, and colleagues across the Trust.
* Provide strategic insight and challenge to the CFO; act as a values-driven leader adaptable to changing NHS expectations.
* Build and lead high-performing finance teams and manage relationships across the organisation, upholding GOSH values in all activities.


Qualifications and experience

* CCAB Qualified Accountant with substantial post-qualification experience at senior level; educated to Degree level or equivalent; evidence of commitment to continuing professional development; Postgraduate MBA (essential).
* Significant experience in a senior finance role and in senior management; experience in change management and development/implementation of financial information systems; experience with investment appraisals/business cases; development of financial improvement programmes.
* Understanding of audit principles and practices; understanding of International Accounting Standards; experience of contract negotiations with NHS Commissioners, suppliers, or customers; NHS experience including knowledge of NHS structure and funding regime and NHS foundation trusts.

* Strong leadership, influencing and mentoring skills; strategic analytical and judgemental skills; project management; excellent time management; ability to organise and prioritise workload; advanced written and verbal communication; ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organisation.
