Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint an enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Locum Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to join its established consultant team. The post will be based at West Middlesex University Hospital and will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality general and specialist obstetrics and gynaecology services across both sites to the population of West London and surrounding areas.
The successful post holder will work closely with consultant colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team to support the provision of safe, effective, and patient‑centred care. Core clinical responsibilities include participation in gynaecology one‑stop clinics, obstetrics and gynaecology theatre activity, and antenatal clinics, in line with departmental service requirements.
The appointment is for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) and includes a hybrid on‑call commitment for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The consultant on‑call rota is currently undergoing a formal consultation process, and changes to the on‑call pattern may be implemented following its completion. The appointee will provide a high‑quality Obstetrics and Gynaecology service, in conjunction with consultant colleagues already in post, and will be expected to offer continuous responsibility for the care of patients named under their team.
Whilst this post is initially and primarily based at the West Middlesex site, all appointments may require cross‑site working to varying degrees.
There will be dedicated time for teaching medical students (tutorials, ward, clinic and theatre‑based learning) and for postgraduate teaching and departmental meetings. Regular audits will be required and supervision for Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) undertaken by the trainees. Involvement in general management and committee work for the hospital will also be encouraged.
