About the Role
We are on the lookout for an experienced and driven Commercial Manager to spearhead our commercial functions within the Greater London development business. This pivotal leadership role involves:
* Managing procurement strategies
* Leading contract negotiations
* Overseeing cost reporting and commercial risk
Your expertise will guide a diverse and high-value portfolio, including exciting projects like the multi-phase development at the Olympic Park and a strategic new site at Gilston, which will feature 8,500 homes and essential infrastructure.
Where Will You Be Working?
You’ll be based in our London office (WC1X 8QR), with a flexible work schedule that includes:
* In-office days on Mondays and Tuesdays
* Remote work for the rest of the week
* Site visits as needed, based on business requirements
Key Responsibilities
* Lead procurement and contract negotiations for packages exceeding £100m
* Manage the commercial reporting process for timely and transparent cost reports
* Oversee internal authorisation processes and ensure accurate execution of contracts
* Handle variation accounts and support legal claims with our legal teams
* Appoint and manage Employers Agents and Quantity Surveying consultants
* Provide cost planning and estimating support for new business opportunities
* Ensure compliance with contractual responsibilities and internal governance
* Collaborate with stakeholders to drive commercial success
* Advise on joint venture scenarios for optimal outcomes
About You
Essential Qualifications:
* Extensive experience with main contractors, consultancies, or developers
* Broad knowledge of procurement routes and contract types
* Strong understanding of cost reporting and business timetables
* Proven ability to manage commercial professionals
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying
* Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
