Salary: A GBP 33,500 per annum

The Role
Reporting to the Fabric Maintenance Manager, the General Builder will be required to work efficiently and professionally to deliver an excellent service to the Estate Department and the wider School community. The School has a wide range of buildings and interior finishes from late Victorian to modern architecture. The successful candidate will contribute their skills and efforts to the Estate Department to support its functions within the school.
Main Duties
1. The role requires being a good all-rounder and working on various in-house projects.
2. Undertaking building and roofing construction and maintenance tasks as required.
3. Carrying out routine duties such as clearing drains, gutters, and roofs.
4. Working closely with trades to ensure work orders are processed within designated timescales.
5. Reporting and reacting to maintenance issues and assisting other trades as needed.
6. Transporting and delivering materials around the site for your tasks and others in the Estate Department.
7. Assisting with the assembly and support of access and manual handling equipment.
8. Understanding relevant roles and site-specific Health and Safety protocols, including COSHH, PUWER, and working at height.
9. Reporting Health and Safety concerns to the Fabric Maintenance Manager.
10. Escorting contractors around the School when required.
11. Working independently on designated maintenance tasks.
12. Performing other tasks as assigned by the Fabric Maintenance Manager and other Estate Department Managers.
13. Maintaining a safe, clean, and tidy environment around pupils, staff, and visitors, and protecting the fabric of the School buildings.
14. Potentially working for other members of the Estate Department as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Multi-trade skills.
2. Relevant trade qualifications and/or experience.
3. Proven experience managing multiple projects of various sizes and types.
4. A valid, clean driving licence.
