Job Purpose
Successful applicant will be able to offer an effective social work intervention in the pre‑birth period, building strengths within families to reduce identified risk. Case work involves working with vulnerable unborn babies and their families, progressing intervention until Child Protection plans can be established or statutory measures implemented. The role is fast‑paced and rewards a clear understanding of the National Practice Model GIRFEC and child protection knowledge. Applicants must have good communication skills and be committed to or have experience of multi‑agency working.

PVG Membership
With effect from 1 April 2023, roles requiring PVG membership will require the candidate to meet the cost of the membership if the role's full‑time equivalent salary is £30,000 or above. The Council will initially pay the PVG membership cost (£18 for existing members, £59 for non‑members). The cost will be deducted from the employee’s first full month’s salary.

* Assess needs, formulate and implement effective social work interventions.

* Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, building rapport with children, families and professionals.
* Negotiate effectively to reach resolution and implement change successfully.
* Deal with complex issues in a sensitive and appropriate manner.
* Use information management systems to maintain accurate data and high‑quality case information.
* Analyse and evaluate complex information to produce concise reports informing casework and business decisions.
* Provide social work interventions to children and families, presenting concise reports to internal and external audiences, including court.
* Use research findings and statutory guidance to inform social work practice.
