Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development of cutting-edge web applications. Your responsibilities will include:
* UI Kit Development: Develop and maintain UI Kits to ensure a consistent look and feel across our applications.
* Design System Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of a comprehensive design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across all products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate design principles and best practices to drive the adoption of design systems throughout the organisation.
* Feature Releases: Lead or significantly contribute to medium-to-large feature releases, sometimes involving multi-person projects that cross team boundaries.
* Collaboration and Coaching: Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define, design, and implement new features and enhancements, while also guiding and coaching other teams to ensure alignment and effective cross-boundary collaboration.
* Technical Support: Troubleshoot and debug issues to provide technical support and guidance to the team.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
* 2+ years of Experience of leading working across teams, following CDL’s Career Path Framework.
* Shared Component Library: Experience in contributing to and building a shared component library for consistency, reusability, and efficiency.
* 5+ years Web Application and Front-End Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, serverless, and performant web applications using frameworks like Next.js, while leveraging expertise in modern front-end technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Angular, and Web Components to create robust, scalable, and maintainable user interfaces. Full stack experience is desirable.
* Appreciation for Design: Required appreciation for UX/UI design elements and basic design knowledge.
* Design System Experience: Required experience working with design systems and UI library development.
* Iterative Product Delivery: History of delivering products iteratively, aligning with agile practices for continuous improvement and timely feature delivery.
* Coaching and Mentoring: Strong mentoring and coaching abilities to support the professional growth of more junior engineers and improve the overall engineering team.
* Design Collaboration: Design experience to work closely with product designers, ensuring our products are functional, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing.
* Accessibility Standards: Experience in building applications that meet high accessibility standards, ensuring inclusivity and usability for all individuals.
* Version Control and CI/CD: Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
* API Development: Experience in developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
* Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Passion for Learning and Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate a passion for learning by staying updated with evolving technologies and industry trends, while continuously improving our products and development processes through the adoption of best practices.
* AWS Services: Leverage AWS services such as CloudFront, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3 to build efficient, cost-effective, and scalable solutions.

The salary for the role of Senior Software Engineer (Front End) - UX & Design Team pays £55,000 to £65,000p.a. providing a fantastic opportunity for career progression through CDL’s clearly defined career framework ( ).
