Job Description
The Planner (6 month FTC) will own and manage Acro's view of supply and demand across all teams to create and maintain capacity plans for both production and cross-functionally for other departments within the business to include existing and planned projects.
Your role as Production Planner ensures everything starts right. You'll transform approved design data into a production-ready Bill of Materials (BOM), create and manage work orders, and maintain the integrity of our planning systems and processes.
This is a hands-on role for a data-driven individual who enjoys being embedded at the heart of manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain. You'll bring structure to complexity, ensuring Acro's ambitious production goals are met with accuracy and agility.
Key Responsibilities
1. Bill of Materials & Engineering Change
Translate approved design data into accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for procurement and production.
Ensure BOM integrity and data quality across the ERP system, supporting cleansing activities as needed.
Manage updates and change control related to permits, concessions, and engineering design changes.
Act on entries from Smarteam within defined lead times to maintain production flow.
2. Work Order Management
Create and manage work orders for production and sub-assemblies, ensuring alignment with material availability and build schedules.
Monitor inventory levels and proactively amend work orders to accommodate changes or shortages.
Minimise disruption to picking and production activities through accurate, up-to-date planning.
3. Material Planning & MRP
Manage material demand through the MRP system, ensuring procurement and operations teams have clear, reliable data.
Support long-term planning by contributing to accurate demand forecasts and capacity reviews.
Level and prioritise material and resource need to optimise production throughput and minimise bottlenecks.
4. Reporting & Data Management
Maintain system data integrity within the ERP/MRP platform (e.g. Epicor).
Produce operational reports, executive summaries, and customer-facing updates (e.g. Airbus reports).
Support bid and sales activity by providing accurate planning insights into delivery feasibility and lead time
Skills and experience required
Significant experience using MRP/ERP systems with deep understanding of planning workflows (Epicor experience advantageous). Highly numerate and data-driven with the ability to convert complex information into actionable insight.
Demonstrated experience in managing short-term planning tasks while maintaining long-term strategic focus.
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, continuous improvement mindset.
Effective communicator — able to work collaboratively across functions and present information clearly at all levels. Strong organisational skills; self-motivated and able to manage workload independently.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities.
