Job Purpose
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Executive Support Manager to provide high-impact, comprehensive support to the Executive Director and the Departmental Management Team (DMT) within Environment & Communities. This pivotal role involves leading the executive office operations, managing the PA network, driving corporate governance, and delivering cross-cutting projects that advance the Directorate's goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the executive office, acting as Executive Assistant to the Executive Director by managing day-to-day operations and preparing high-quality correspondence, briefing notes, and reports for senior officers and elected Members.
* Provide line management to the PA network supporting three Directors and three Heads of Service, overseeing setting objectives, performance management, professional development, and staff wellbeing for 2-4 direct reports.
* Coordinate key governance and cross-departmental meetings including Cabinet Member, budget-holder, and project meetings; responsibilities include agenda setting, paper preparation, minute taking, and ensuring decision follow-up.
* Oversee the compilation, review, and presentation of Cabinet Member Reports, Operational Reports, Cabinet and Scrutiny submissions.
* Represent the Executive Director and the DMT at senior-level meetings, preparing pertinent briefings with Chief Executive, Members, and senior officers.
* Lead and manage cross-cutting projects from conception to completion, ensuring active coordination between senior stakeholders across multiple council locations.
* Manage the Executive Director's Office budget with responsibility for liaising with external contractors and consultants, ensuring adherence to financial regulations and processes.

Experience & Skills
* Proven ability to deliver change programmes and projects from definition through to implementation with strong organisational, planning, prioritisation, and risk management skills.
* Exceptional communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and produce clear, accurate written documentation. Clear spoken English skills essential for public interaction.
* Demonstrates leadership qualities with an emphasis on integrity; able to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
* Collaborative and politically aware approach, adept at building productive networks and working across services to achieve outcomes.
* Confident user of Microsoft Office and management information systems.
* Holds relevant Secretarial, PA, Business Administration qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
* Flexibility to work a minimum of three days per week in the office, with specific days aligned to business needs.
