Summary
***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE***
We’re looking for a Project Officer to join us on a 24 month fixed term contract to support the delivery of a long‑term, UK‑wide programme designed to inspire people to take part in restoring nature. This role plays an important part in turning campaign plans into well‑coordinated action, supporting the smooth delivery of projects and workstreams within a complex and collaborative environment.
What it's like to work here
At the National Trust, we care about people and places thriving together. Our work is guided by shared values: welcoming everyone, thinking now and for ever, and making it happen through collaboration and accountability. You’ll be part of a committed and thoughtful campaign team, working with colleagues across fundraising, brand, advocacy, audiences and operations.
We value inclusive ways of working, openness to different perspectives and creating environments where people feel supported to do their best work. Purpose, curiosity and respect shape how we work together and how we engage with the public.
What you'll be doing
You’ll support the planning, coordination and delivery of project activity within the campaign, managing smaller projects and leading defined elements of larger and more complex workstreams. Working closely with the Senior Project Manager and wider campaign team, you’ll help maintain project plans, track progress, manage risks and support effective reporting throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll coordinate activity with internal colleagues and external partners where needed, help ensure work is delivered to time, cost and quality expectations, and contribute to clear communication across stakeholders. You’ll also support good governance and compliance, helping ensure activity is delivered safely, responsibly and in line with agreed processes.
Who we're looking for
We'd love to hear from you if this sounds like you:
1. experience in the nature conservation sector and knowledge of conservation issues.
2. experience of leading, motivating and supervising volunteers.
3. experience of relevant health and safety procedures and experience of undertaking risk assessments.
4. an effective communicator, able to build good working relationships
5. good at listening, building trust and giving a high-quality service to colleagues
6. someone with an eye for detail, good organisational skills and able to work at pace and keep to time
7. a champion of inclusion, who helps support everyone to feel welcome
The package
The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
