Supplier Quality Specialist (Virtual)

Boeing Defence United Kingdom is seeking a highly capable and motivated Supplier Quality Specialist to join our team in Birmingham, UK.
The role will be working with a wider Boeing UK team managing the quality aspects of the supply base for all military products in UK. Travel to other Boeing suppliers around the UK will also be required on a frequent basis.
This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and will not require the selected candidate to relocate.
Position Responsibilities:
Management of a portfolio of suppliers including:
1. Supplier oversight and surveillance.
2. Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) review and acceptance.
3. Supplier development and mentoring.
4. Earlier Quality Involvement (EQI) and Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) implementation.
5. Continuous improvement.
6. Creating and presenting metrics and performance data.
7. Product verification and in-process
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
8. Reporting to the Supplier Quality Regional Manager, the successful candidate will have a background in quality/inspection, be able to understand and interpret 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings, production paperwork and manufacturing specifications.
9. Experience in the inspection of composite, machined and fabricated parts and assemblies and knowledge of the installation of electrical/electronic line replaceable units (LRU), experience on wire looms and fuel systems would be an advantage.
10. Experience in the review of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) to the AS9102 standard, be able to articulate non-compliance/conformities to the document owners and progress through to a compliant resolution.
11. Knowledge and experience of the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) Type Certificate process would also be an advantage although training will be provided for successful candidates to carry out conformity inspections and test set-up as part of the FAA type approval process.
12. Good communication skills – verbal and written.
13. Computer skills will be required to input data into a number of different on and off-line systems and applications.
