We’re working with a respected civil engineering firm delivering major highways infrastructure projects in the East Midlands. They’re now seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to supportmercial operations due to continuous growth.

Your new role
1. Manage project costs from initial estimates through to final accounts, ensuring value for money.
2. Prepare and review subcontractor packages, including procurement, negotiation, and contract administration.
3. Monitor and report on project budgets, identifying risks and opportunities to maintain financial control.
4. Assess and value variations, ensuring accurate and timely submissions to the client.
5. Work closely with site teams to track progress, resolve issues, and alignmercial and operational goals.
6. Ensurepliance with NEC contract terms and relevant industry standards.
7. Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders, maintaining strong professional relationships.
8. Support monthly CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations) and forecasting activities.
9. Contribute to project reporting, including cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and final accounts.
What you'll need to succeed
10. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on Highways or civil engineering projects
11. Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
12. Excellentmercial awareness and attention to detail
13. Strongmunication skills for liaising with site teams, clients and stakeholders
14. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel andmercial Management software
15. Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification (HNC, HND or Degree level)
16. Full UK driving license
