This role is for an Associate Electrical Engineer based in Cambridge, leading MEP projects and supporting the Electrical team on a wide range of buildings including Higher Education facilities, research sites, mixed‑use developments, refurbishments and heritage properties.
Key Responsibilities
* Represent Buro Happold to clients, architects and collaborators independently.
* Act as project lead, coordinating multiple BH disciplines on small to medium‑sized commissions.
* Lead the electrical discipline on large projects, ensuring design quality, programme, resources and client care.
* Negotiate utility modifications and additions with stakeholders.
* Undertake detailed electrical engineering building services design and calculations.
* Apply technologies to improve performance and sustainability to meet net‑zero targets by 2030.
* Ensure projects are delivered to an excellent standard, within agreed deadlines and budget.
* Represent Buro Happold at meetings with clients, other professionals and suppliers.
* Produce and review reports, presentations, models and drawings to a high level of accuracy and on time.
* Prepare technical specifications and schedules, design development reports and innovative design solutions.
* Plan and manage input to Revit for production of design work.
* Actively engage with colleagues across disciplines in group discussions, events and seminars.
* Line‑manage or mentor junior team members.
Qualifications
* Experience as a Lead Electrical Engineer on projects.
* Broad design knowledge across a range of projects.
* Experience using common analysis software including Revit.
* Working towards, or a Chartered Member of CIBSE or an equivalent body.
* Relevant building services experience and credentials that demonstrate a commitment to delivering highly sustainable buildings.
