We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Administrator to join the growing Health and Safety team, as maternity cover.
We are seeking an enthusiastic team worker who can work independently and as part of a team. You will be friendly, proactive, and self‑motivated. In addition, the successful candidate will possess excellent planning, organisation and communication skills. The role holder will work together with colleagues to provide administrative support and ensure day‑to‑day operational needs are met.
Responsibilities
* Support the Health and Safety Advisors with administrative tasks
* Receive and respond to internal and external queries, providing advice and resolving both simple and complex issue queries
* Support the coordination of the Health and Safety training programme, including booking of rooms, ordering catering and scheduling on the internal short courses website
* Monitor budgets and raise purchase orders for the team
* Maintain databases
* Assist with events and projects
Qualifications
* Extensive IT skills, including MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams)
* Ability to build working relationships within the department, contacts around the University and external suppliers
* Ability to work independently to resolve complex internal and external queries
* Provide and maintain a high level of customer service whilst working to deadlines
* Accuracy, reliability and willingness and adaptability to learn new skills and procedures

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
Post is offered on a fixed term contract until 1 January 2027 on a full time (36.25 hours per week) basis. The role is offered with a hybrid approach, with a minimum of three days in the office, subject to operational needs.
