Job summary
This appointment is to support the expansion of the existing clinical team based at Ipswich Hospital. The successful candidate will join the two current Gynaecological oncologists, Mr Barnaby Rufford and Miss Wendy MacNab. Applicants should have entry onto the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of CCT date at the time of interview, or have completed CESR and be on the Specialist Register.
Main duties of the job
The standard full-time job plan will consist of 10 programmed activities, typically including up to 1.5 SPAs. The Trust will allocate 1.5 SPAs for appraisals, CPD, mandatory training, and job planning. Additional SPA time may be allocated for specific activities, subject to agreement with the clinical director. Permission from your Clinical/Medical Director must be sought for external NHS activities, which should be recorded in your job plan. An on-call element of 0.5 PA is included.
The aim of this role is to deliver gynaecology oncology services within a strict timeframe, managing resources effectively, particularly operating sessions.

Job responsibilities
* Implement the Trust's Clinical Governance programme.
* Take clinical leadership and administrative responsibility for the Gynaecological Oncology Centre.
* Develop standards, procedures, and systems to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care from entry to discharge.
* Supervise junior medical staff, providing formal and informal teaching and oversight.
* Engage in risk management activities to ensure safety and quality of care.
* Participate in educational programs, including teaching and clinical audits.
* Teach and train staff across disciplines, including nursing and support staff.
* Maintain an up-to-date job plan and personal development plan.
* Register and participate in the RCOG CPD scheme.
* Provide advice to GPs regarding patient suitability for hospital admission.
* The role will initially be developed in collaboration with the Clinical Lead for Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Person Specification
Essential
* MRCOG or equivalent
* Full GMC registration
* Training & experience equivalent to UK CCT
* Entry onto the Specialist Register in Gynaecological Oncology or within 6 months of CCT at interview
Desirable
* Higher Degree
* Experience in Gynaecology Governance and Risk Management
* Robotic surgical training
