JOB TITLE: Studio Broadcast Engineer ABOUT THE ROLE A BRIEF SUMMARY Part of the Gravity Media technology team at the new home of ITV Daytime in Central London. Working within a small team of engineers who are responsible for the BAU support, studio engineering and technical workflows within the facility. You must have accountability and work well within a team. You will be able to communicate clearly, both written and verbal to technical colleagues and to non-technical partners. WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR · Undertaking pre-event studio checks, including alignment of cameras, vision and sound systems, and ensuring readiness for live broadcasts. · Providing technical support for live and pre-recorded studio productions, including cameras, vision control, audio, comms and routing. · Supporting a range of specialist systems including: o Windows / Mac OS / Linux environments o Vision Mixers o EVS Systems (IPD, XSquare, XTs, XTAs, XFile) o Avid Interplay, Nexis, and Media Composer clients o Adobe Creative Suite and other creative tools · Monitoring and optimising the performance of media servers, shared storage systems, non-linear edit suites, and file delivery facilities. · Guiding editors, operators, and production staff through complex operational scenarios. · Reviewing, developing, and maintaining workflows to support efficient operation of Broadcast Engineering, and ensuring documentation is kept up to date. · Planning and managing maintenance of systems and workflows in a way that considers risk and impact to clients, including routine checks and preventative maintenance. · Escalating issues to stakeholders and liaising with vendor support as required. · Proactively supporting all media operations and other technical departments within Gravity Media. · Supporting and mentoring junior members of the technical teams. THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF To enable you to perform this role, you should be able to demonstrate the following as a minimum: · Proven experience in studio engineering support, including cameras, audio, vision mixing, lighting and comms. · Experience with TCP/IP networking infrastructure and multi-VLAN networks. · Strong understanding of file-based editing workflows and media management. · Knowledge of various file transcoding, processing and delivery systems. · Familiarity with IP-based video routing and SMPTE-2110 standards. · Pro-active with the ability to identify and resolve potential issues before they occur. · Ability to work under programme and/or operational pressures at high technical complexity. · Comfortable working to internal business processes including communication, ticketing, auditing, documentation and change control. · Strong interpersonal skills, able to work both independently and collaboratively, and to remain calm under pressure. · Positive, enthusiastic manner with an ability to respond tactfully and sympathetically to requests from all stakeholders. · Capable of delegating and distributing tasks to others in the engineering team. · Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
