Biomedical Scientist – Blood Sciences

We have an exciting opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join our Biochemistry, Blood Transfusion and Haematology team within our Pathology Department based at The London Clinic in Central London, W1G 7L, with a competitive salary range on offer. The candidate will primarily be based in Biochemistry to support the department for 18 months.

Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest private hospitals, with state-of-the-art facilities located around Harley Street. We have approximately 1350 employees across 8 sites, covering a broad range of specialisms, including complex medical and surgical procedures and a comprehensive range of cancer and outpatient services.

Job Profile

As a Biomedical Scientist, you will carry out and supervise technical and scientific work in the laboratory under the direction of the Chief/Senior Biomedical Scientist or Consultant. You will work alongside the Blood Sciences team members and leaders to foster a culture of continuous improvement in delivering high-quality, efficient, and effective services.

Key Details

* Job Type: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week
* Shifts: Monday to Friday, with early and late shifts, and 1 in 4 Saturdays

Key Duties

* Perform routine and specialist laboratory techniques following department SOPs.
* Record data accurately on the laboratory information system, ensuring compliance with data standards.
* Assess, initiate, and monitor actions to prevent service disruptions, escalating issues as necessary.
* Understand and follow procedures for escalating laboratory issues.

Skills & Experience

* Post HCPC registration
* Recent laboratory experience in Biochemistry
* Knowledge of ISO15189 standards
* BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
* Current HCPC registration as a biomedical scientist
