About the role
Key responsibilities
1. Take responsibility for English and Mathematics for all Talkback learners using a combination of accredited and non-accredited methods of delivery relevant to meeting individual needs.
2. Oversee planned activities to ensure robust and accurate ‘starting points’ are established at the start of each leaner’s programme.
3. Deliver a weekly timetable of high-quality sessions to learners in small groups, modelling good practice to support staff and other tutors and demonstrate how to effectively engage SEND learners in English and Mathematics.
4. Responsible for analysing outcomes from baseline assessments and taking decision relating to accredited learning and then building effective relationships with relevant awarding bodies, including external verifiers and ensure registrations, reasonable adjustments, documentation and portfolio evidence is of a high quality, up to date and actions completed.
5. Take a leading role in setting of all English and Mathematics ‘core’ and ‘subject’ targets for all learners and monitor progress.
6. Oversee the production and distribution of bi-annual reports on learners’ progress to parent/carers relating to English and Mathematics
7. Produce and present written reports and/or data analysis to the leadership team as requested
8. Participate in relevant local and national events
9. Qualified teacher status (QTS/QTLS)
10. Specialist qualification in English and/or mathematics
11. Minimum level 3 in English and/or mathematics e.g. A-level
12. Degree or equivalent
13. Working with SEND learners (entry level 1 to level 2)
14. Success as an FE FS/GSCE tutor/leader (minimum 2 years)
15. Working knowledge of initial and baseline assessment processes
16. Implementing innovative delivery methods to engage SEND learners
17. Leading on QA activities for English/ mathematics
18. Working knowledge of accreditation processes e.g. registration, IV & EV
19. Evidencing non-accredited progress
20. Training and mentoring teaching staff in English/ mathematics delivery
21. Planning a curriculum to enhance learners
22. Establishing and maintaining high quality standards and expectations
23. Ensure the programmes adhere to robust safeguarding practices
24. Excellent communication skills with a passion for skills development
25. Ability to inspire and mentor other staff to help with FS delivery
26. Monitoring progress for accredited & non-accredited learning
27. Understanding RARPA incl. baseline assessment & target setting
28. Ability to produce written reports and analyse outcomes data
29. Good organisational and time management skills
30. Ability to drive improvements & implement strategies for subject
31. Lead by example and act as a role model for professional behaviours.
About you
