Overview
Equans is looking for a Painter to join our team at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. This is a full-time, permanent role working on average 37.5 hours per week. A competitive salary and excellent benefits package are on offer.
The role will require you to work on a shift basis covering Early, Backshift and Nights, which will be discussed at interview. A shift allowance is provided in addition to the annual salary.
Responsibilities
* Deliver planned lifecycle programmes of internal & external painting, decoration, and maintenance.
* Carry out fabric works, including painting, patching, sanding, and minor wall protection replacements.
* Respond to urgent reactive painting and decoration requests, including emergency repairs during shift hours.
* Support small works projects and variations as directed by Equans line management.
* Prepare surfaces and apply finishes including paint, varnish, and wallpaper.
* Conduct inspections and touch-ups to maintain high standards of appearance.
* Safely mix and match paint to meet hospital design specifications.
* Work in sensitive areas (wards, operating theatres, labs) with minimal disruption, following infection control protocols.
* Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and time spent.
* Liaise with clinical staff before starting works, ensuring safety and clear communication.
* Complete point-of-work risk assessments and adhere to RAMS, SLAs, KPIs, and Health & Safety standards.
* Manage site materials effectively and ensure PPE is always worn.
* Promote a positive safety, diversity, and inclusion culture in line with Equans policies.
* Undertake training and professional development as required.

Who are you?
* Completed a relevant apprenticeship and qualified to minimum NC (or NVQ equivalent) level
* Proven experience as a painter (healthcare experience desirable but not essential)
* Knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and materials
* Experience in minor plastering, surface repair, and wallpaper application
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality finishes
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
* Understanding of Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH
* Flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Disclosure Scotland to PVG level required
