Academics are currently supporting a warm, welcoming special secondary school in Erdington in their search for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support students with a range of special educational needs. You will help create an inclusive, supportive, and structured environment, ensuring pupils are able to engage positively in both learning and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored support to students with diverse SEN needs.
Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
Promote independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing among pupils.
Help manage behaviour in line with school policies.
Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals.Requirements
A relevant SEN or childcare qualification or proven experience supporting children/young people with SEN.
A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain a new DBS prior to starting.
A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A genuine passion for supporting young people in specialist settings.
