Are you passionate about supporting young people with disabilities? If so, then this is a fantastic opportunity to work with the Community Children & Young People's Learning Disability Team (CYPMHS) Wirral.
This small and friendly team is made up of clinicians from a variety of professional backgrounds, who will support you in embedding your practice and skillset into the team.
You will work closely with families, carers, education, and social care teams to support young people with disabilities. Your responsibilities include assessing behavioral, communication, and mental health needs, providing interventions, and guiding families and agencies to implement changes that improve the young person's lived experience. This role aims to build confidence in their abilities to meet those needs.
This is a short-term contract to cover a vacancy and is suitable for newly or recently qualified applicants from backgrounds such as occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, social work, or nursing, who wish to gain experience in a children and young people's mental health and learning disability setting.
Requirements and Responsibilities:
1. A high level of enthusiasm and dedication to providing quality, community-based mental health services to children, young people with disabilities, and their families.
2. Experience or interest in working with children and young people with disabilities.
3. Strong communication skills to develop relationships with families and young people, with the ability to adapt support using reasonable adjustments.
4. Completing initial assessments, clinical notes, letters, and updating patient records.
5. Attending multidisciplinary team meetings and engaging in case discussions.
6. Partnering with families and managing a caseload.
7. Planning and developing treatment plans.
8. Participating in regular supervision and team discussions.
9. Building relationships with partner agencies through joint case work to enhance learning.
10. Attending safeguarding supervision.
11. Having access to transport due to travel requirements across the local area.
