Priory Hospital Kneesworth House is looking to recruit a Mental Health Act Administrator to join the team. This is a full-time/ 37.5 role.
Located in Royston, Hertfordshire, within a purpose-built facility and spacious grounds, Priory Hospital Kneesworth House is a level 2 rehabilitation service, which provides a range of specialist recovery pathways, all at one site.
The hospital also provides acute and psychiatric intensive care, medium and low secure services, and bespoke therapeutic placements. Priory's acute and PICU services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas.
What you'll be doing
You'll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn't involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.
* Oversee the administration of the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, amendments, and the MHA Code of Practice.
* Advise and support staff, service users, and relatives on the MHA and related procedures, including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
* Scrutinise and manage statutory documentation, maintain accurate legal records, and ensure timely correction of errors in line with legal timescales.
* Coordinate Mental Health Tribunals and Hospital Director reviews, including preparation of documentation, liaising with stakeholders, and arranging hearings.
* Deliver training and provide guidance to clinical staff, support other MHA administrators, and contribute to inspection follow-ups and process improvements.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 within a healthcare or legal setting, with a strong understanding of statutory requirements and associated procedures. Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise a busy and changing workload are essential. Candidates should be confident in liaising with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies, and have experience in handling confidential information. Knowledge of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), tribunal processes, and legal documentation is highly desirable. Familiarity with electronic patient record systems and MHA reporting tools would be an advantage.
