What's involved with this role: Assistant Chef (Extra Care) PART-TIME Exeter 5273305 £15.00 per hour PAYE 4-5 months Enhanced DBS must be in place before candidate submission. Hours: 10 hours per week, worked from 08:30 to 13:30, 2 days per week on a rota basis. Days can be flexible but must include at least one weekend day. Training: The candidate must be IDDSI trained. Allergy Awareness: Some customers have severe allergies, so the successful candidate must have a strong understanding of allergy safety protocols, including the do’s and don’ts related to food preparation and handling. Key accountabilities: Provide the highest possible standards of customer care, presentation of food & beverages, hygiene & cleanliness at all times within a healthy & safe environment. Prepare and cook a two course hot meal at lunch time for all residents at Edwards Court (a service that is provided between the Catering Team for 365 days of the year including bank holidays and weekends). This will include any specialised diets that some residents might require including allergies. Work with the Head Chef on any food initiatives and promotions outside of the core food offering listening to feedback from residents. Cover for the Head Chef in managing a small catering team to ensure meals are cooked properly and presented on time i.e. including the staff rota and food ordering. Ensure all the catering areas are kept clean and free of hazards at all times as detailed by Environmental Health. Comply with all health and safety requirements, constantly implementing and assessing procedures and supporting the Head Chef and the catering provision in obtaining and maintaining a food hygiene rating of 5. Cover for the Head Chef (Extra Care) during annual leave or non-working days Key criteria: Educated to NVQ level 2 or equivalent in a catering or related service or equivalent experience IDSSI trained Knowledge of catering for customers with severe allergies Food Handling Certificate First aid at Work Certificate Knowledge and understanding of the principles of food preparation and product knowledge including specialists diets Working knowledge of health and safety and food standards and best practise Some knowledge of the benefits of performance information and responding to comments and complaints Knowledge of operating and working within a set budget that still provides a quality, healthy meal for residents Willingness to occasionally work outside of ‘normal’ working hours How to Apply Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
