ROLE: Mitie Mate - Engineering Support
HOURS: 40 hrs per week
LOCATION: Barnard Castle

We're looking for a Mitie Mate who will join our engineering family to support our client's site by carrying out general and fabric maintenance tasks within a team of four.
Role Responsibilities
1. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic tradespeople to join our engineering family.
Our Mitie Mates provide facilities support services across our client's site.
The role will be responsible for carrying out a range of general and fabric maintenance and business‑support tasks, working in a team of four Mitie Mates and assisting as required in the delivery of reactive, planned and ad‑hoc maintenance tasks.
Suitable training and upskilling may be given, as and when required, to achieve competency and the ability to perform tasks.
2. Assist with the compliance of all relevant statutory and regulatory obligations, ensuring competence and performance of external resources and maintaining assurance of compliance for their assets.
3. Ensure statutory maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with GSK and contractual requirements.
4. Conduct maintenance support to the GSK Utility Team.
5. Conduct any reactive tasks required to support GSK.
6. Complete any Aria tickets raised within the SLA service metrics.
7. Complete GSK work orders within required timescales and to relevant standards.
8. Provide preparation support for any shutdown periods.
9. Support in managing and ordering stock for daily activities.
10. Order consumables for purified water.
11. Take deliveries of all materials and consumables.
12. Carry out statutory maintenance such as fire sprinkler testing.
13. Support and deliver Aria tasks allocated to this team.
14. Change air filters on AHUs across the site.
15. Support GSK in any tasks that arise on site.
16. Conduct point‑of‑work RAMS.
17. Maintain accurate documentation of all assigned work orders.
18. Comply fully with Health, Safety & Environmental policies.
19. Complete documentation as required, including RAMS, and adhere to all associated permits.
20. Participate in the standby rota for emergency calls outside normal working hours.
21. Offer flexibility in working hours to provide cover when required for holidays and sickness absence.
22. Assist all trades within the team and, through correct training, complete tasks outside core skills.
23. Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work‑order progress in a timely manner.
24. Proactively walk the floors, reporting any maintenance or H&S issues to the helpdesk and appropriate manager.
Required Qualifications
25. Experience of building maintenance, handyperson or janitorial duties.
26. Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a building environment.
27. A proactive approach to maintenance and building management.
28. Confident, driven and proactive.
29. Able to do the job right, first time, within a predetermined timescale.
30. Willingness to undertake further training.
31. Ability to provide a schedule of works for identified additional/remedial works.
32. Ability to write and follow risk and method statements as required on a daily basis.
33. Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work‑order progress in a timely manner.
34. Good knowledge of building statutory compliance.
35. Must hold a full UK driver's licence.
36. Ability to record work accurately on worksheets and computer‑based systems.
37. Good communication skills and ability to work within a team.
38. Experience of working within a customer‑focused environment.
39. A desire to achieve success for themselves, the business and the customer.
40. Flexible approach to work and working hours (subject to the EU Working Time Directive).
41. Presented in a clean and tidy manner to represent the company professionally, utilising uniform and PPE issued.
42. Responsible for self and others in maintaining a safe working environment in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act and subsequent UK and EU amendments.
43. HSE management in accordance with our Quality Management System and all legal and statutory requirements.
44. Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work‑order progress in a timely manner.
