Specialist Pharmacy Technician Dispensary – Band 4
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self‑motivated and committed Pharmacy Technician to join the Dispensary Team at Croydon University Hospital.
Ideal for newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians or Trainee Pharmacy Technicians with community or hospital pharmacy experience who want to develop both dispensary and supervisory skills in a technologically equipped Pharmacy Department.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical support to the dispensary, including labelling and dispensing inpatient requests, outpatient and discharge prescriptions, controlled drugs and clinical trials.
* Maintain a high standard of stock control and stock rotation.
* Assist pharmacists in providing a comprehensive patient counselling service to all outpatients, optimizing patient knowledge of their drugs.
* Support senior dispensary technician with inpatient requests, dispensing and labelling for TTA’s and complete in‑house accreditations in the dispensary.
* Work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary pharmacy team, maintaining rapport with medical and other colleagues.
* Assist in training junior staff, such as trainee pharmacists, pharmacy students and student technicians.
* Counsel patients on medicines according to departmental standards; enhance the quality of patient care and demonstrate a whole‑system patient‑focused approach.
The post holder is a qualified registered Pharmacy Technician who performs a range of routine and non‑routine work activities based on a broad foundation for further skill development.
The post holder is accountable for meeting the General Pharmaceutical Council Code of Ethics/Standards for Pharmacy Professionals and practising safely and effectively at all times.
Under the supervision of the Chief and Senior Technicians, the post holder helps ensure the provision of a high‑quality, customer‑focused pharmaceutical service to in‑patients, discharge patients, accident and emergency patients, and private patients.
Actively participate in a Continuing Professional Development programme, developing professional knowledge and competence, and work towards developing the skills of a Pharmacy Technician Higher Level.
Qualifications
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent.
* NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
* Candidate working towards Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (desirable).
Working Hours & Working Conditions
The successful applicant will contribute to late duty and weekend working.
