Working within a dynamic frontline children’s social care team, you will play a key role in managing referrals, conducting statutory assessments, and safeguarding vulnerable children and families.

What you will do:
* Manage a varied and demanding caseload, handling referrals, safeguarding concerns, and initial assessments.
* Undertake comprehensive Child and Family Assessments within statutory timescales, ensuring effective risk management.
* Lead complex cases, applying advanced professional judgement and detailed risk analysis.
* Progress cases to Child Protection plans, Child in Need (CIN) plans, or care proceedings where necessary.
* Provide practice guidance and mentoring to social workers and newly qualified staff within the team.
* Participate in strategy discussions, child protection conferences, and legal planning meetings.
Person specification:
Qualifications:
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
* Registration with Social Work England with full compliance.
Registration and compliance:
* Enhanced DBS clearance required.
* Must have the right to work in the UK.
Key skills:
* Advanced safeguarding assessment and risk management skills.
* Strong analytical thinking and professional judgement.
* Ability to mentor and support other practitioners within the team.
* Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
* Capability to manage complex cases effectively under pressure.
* Proficiency in IT systems and electronic case management platforms.
Experience:
* Significant post-qualifying experience in Children’s Social Care.
* Previous experience within Duty, Assessment, or Front Door teams.
* Proven background in managing safeguarding and child protection cases.
* Experience supporting junior staff and contributing to practice leadership.
